  1. This lineage is fantastic! Congrats on all the hard work in getting it all put together. Hopefully there will be enough readers who can contribute the missing names and/or dates.

  2. Thanks Desmond and Patricia. The family 'story' will be written up over the summer holidays, for now it's just a who's who. I'll be adding your recollections soon.

  7. Just like to add to the Miller/Millar story that Joseph Miller b1854 actually was brought up in Gortin Co tyrone and his father Joseph had a holding not in Lettermuck but in Letterbratt,Gortin Co. Tyrone.
There were also more children who resulted from the Miller/Watson marriage. They were
Eliza Jane Miller B."7th Feb !877,Londonderry .She married a William Henderson and can be found living in Attaclady in the 1911 census.

Sarah Ann Miller b 2nd August 1878 Gortin [died in infancy]

Joseph Miller b3rd March 1880d 1880 learmount Londonderry

Sarah Miller b 1881 Gortin .She went on to marry a Joseph Anderson and can also be found living with her family in Attaclady in 1911.

All the children were regeistered as Miller not Millar including

    Matilda Miller b !883

    Robert Miller b 1886 b.Gortin

    Joseph Miller b 1887 b .Gortin

Miller was used until William John was born in 1991 in Plumbridge when the surname changed to Millar .

    Maggie Millar b Strabane

    Alex Millar 1898 b Strabane

This is of special interest to my own family because my father Bob Miller was the only one of Alex Millar's children to have been registered ER not AR.Perhaps my grandad was leaving us a handy clue to our family history.
Hope this is useful to further research of the Miller family.Joseph Miller signed his marriage certificate Miller when he married Miss Maria Watson.Letterbratt not Lettermuck appears on certificate too. This can be viewed on Proni /groni Website.

  8. Mary Ann Watson nee Hargan was living with Maria Millar who was living in Strabane 1911 at Bridge Street with son Robert James Miller and the rest of the younger children.Maria had been widowed in 1907 when her husband Joseph Millar died after being badly injured when attending an auction of contents at The Bankhouse,9 Bowling Green on 6th November 1906.There were so many people at the auction that market day that the first floor gave way and Joseph fell through the ceiling Over 70 people were injured in the incidenton .Joseph was helped from the site and had what was reported in the paper asheavy bruising but died 2 months later from his injuries.
    Mary Ann Watson was

Mary Anne widowed in March 1878 and stayed on in Lear on the farm with her son John .John went to Scotland around 1883 married and died 1892.Several of his children ended up in America.Mary ann gave up the farm in 1885.She was living with Maria in March 1912 but when she died on 22nd MAY she had gone to live with son William George Watson and his family in Douglas.Maria had tragically died aged just 52 just weeks before on the 19th April of Acute Brights Disease.Robert James Millar was present at his mothers death and registered the death.
Interestingly given what happened with Robert's marriage,on the 1911 census there were several catholics boarding with the family presumably taken in to make ends meet following the death of the father Joseph in 1907.
